 Beginning to Advanced. This high energy instructor will teach you how to take chances with watercolor and unlock its bold, wild side! Students will learn the basics of Richard’s process; create value studies; develop compositional skills; and then progress to bold, wet-in-wet painting. Progress to new levels each session mastering the medium! Min 5 students.

Supply List

"I usually tell people to show up with what they have, and we'll go from there. Having said that, I like to use 140 lb. arches cold press paper, or one similar to it. I use "tube" paint, and any brand will do, but I use:

  • American Journey... colors...

    • 2 reds,

    • 2 yellows,

    • 2 blues,    

    • 2 browns,

    • 2 greens...or more specifically:

    • cad red,

    • alizarin. crimson,

    • gamboges,

    •  lemon yellow,

    • sap green

    • skip's green,

    • raw sienna,

    • burnt sienna,

    • ult. blue,

    • pthalo blue, and

    • indigo.

  • I use flat brushes, from 1/16 " to 3". "

  • Large Watercolor Palette

  • Paper towels

  • Mr Clean Scrubbing sponge
