Louise Gillis' Class Supply Lists for WC, Oil & Drawing
Classes
Select the list that fits your class from the below three
supply lists. You won't need anything other then what is
on your specific media list for your type class:
Oil Supply list -
-
Canvas: 16x20 to 29x24
-
Brushes: Filberts or Rounds : Two
each #2 #4 #6 #8 - one each #10 #12
-- Better quality brushes are best
-
Palette (wooden preferable), palette
cups, palette knife, rags or paper
towels

Turpentine (must be ord or less -
Gamsol is best)
- Medium - Gamblin
cold pressed linseed oil - or bring
what you have
- Black mirror
(black Plexiglas 5x7)
- Plumb line (a
weighted string, black, 30" in
length, fishing line or carpet
thread)
- 18" ruler or
knitting needle for measuring, ivory
soap (cleaning brushes) container for
holding brushes
- Paint:
- Ivory black
- Cobalt blue
- burnt sienna
or Rembrandt transparent brown
oxide
- venetian red
- cadmium red
light
- flake white
or permalba
- Yellow ochre
- Additional
colors may be needed for clothing --
bring what you have
- Please tone your
canvas with raw umber -- very
lightly -- you can tone it with
Alkyd Glazing Medium which prevents
the oil paints from sinking into the
canvas
Drawing Supply List -
- Box of Medium Vine Charcoal
- Charcoal Sharpening pad (sandpaper)
- Full Sheet of neutral light grey charcoal
paper
- Kneaded eraser
- Paper towels
- Plumb Line
- Maul stick
- Artist Tape
- Drawing board that fits your paper
Watercolor Supply List -
- Pad of 11 x 14 watercolor paper or full sheet
watercolor paper, professional grade (note if you bring lose
sheets of watercolor paper, you will also need a watercolor
board to work on)
- Professional grade watercolor paints, tubes
or pan:
- Navy Blue
- Cobalt Blue
- Lemon Yellow
- Cadmium Yellow
- Magenta or Permanente Rose
- Cadmium Red Light
- Bring any other colors you like to work
with too!
- Assortment of watercolor brushes that will go
to a good point
- Paper towels
- Artist Tape
- Pencil
- White eraser
- We have water containers here, so you won't
need to bring any
