Art Show Dates: June 12 – July 14

 

The Event

will spotlight works created by professional and amateur fine artists living in Minnesota, while raising awareness of the quality of art and artists working here.  All Minnesota resident artists are eligible to enter up to 2 original works of art which meet the criteria outlined in the event prospectus. The entry fee is minimal at $15 for 1 entry and $25 for 2 entries. 

 

The Judge

Dan Weimer, President of the Minnesota Watercolor Society and a professional artist and illustrator from Red Wing, Minnesota will judge the competition. For more information about Dan Weimer visit his web site at: www.danweimer.com  

 

The Schedule

The Competition Art Show June 8 - July 14

will officially be open to the public, for free, at Savage Art Studios from June 8th through Saturday, July 14th during normal gallery hours. View over 90 original works of art done by our own Minnesota Artists.  Artwork genres, styles and mediums vary but all our excellent.  SAS Gallery is located at: 4735 W. 123rd St. STE 200 - Savage, MN 55378

 

Non-Accepted Artwork Pick Up by Artists

June 9th from 10 AM to 3 PM

June 10th from 12 Noon to 3 PM

($5/day fee charged for any non-accepted works not picked up by June 10th closing time)

 

Wine Tasting Fund Raiser & Digital Gallery Show June 21

will be held at Community Park in Savage on Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the evening.  Advance Tickets $15 or $20 at the door. The event will be sponsored by Dan Patch Days Committee, City Liquor Stores, The Savage Rotary, and The Savage Arts Council. Ticket Price includes:

  • 17 Different Wine Vendors

  • Beer Vendors

  • 20 Different Businesses and Restaurants serving food

  • Silent Auction of a Greg Preslicka Painting & other items

  • Digital Gallery Show of all artwork juried into The DPD Annual Art Competition on display at Savage Art Studios Gallery

Awards will be presented to Artists June 23 

during Dan Patch Days at Community Park on Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 6PM (ish) between band performances.  Join SAC Representative, Deb Chapin and Competition Judge Dan Wiemer for a fun filled presentation to 20 of our Award Winners.  Artist's will be presented with Ribbons, Certificates and Checks for their prizes.

 

Special Post-Award Judge's Reception & Presentation on the selection process June 23

Immediately following the Awards Presentation from about 7 PM to 9 PM we will return to SAS for a reception and fun presentation by Dan Wiemer on his show selection process. Dan is a lively speaker, so it should be interesting and humorous.

Pick Up Show Artwork

July 14, 2007 from 10 AM to 3 PM

($5/day late fee for any work let at SAS after the pick up dates)

The Awards

will total up to $1,100 in prizes. Each of the 5 Categories will have the following Prizes Awarded:

  • 1st Place receives $100 plus ribbon and certificate

  • 2nd Place receives $50 plus ribbon and certificate

  • Two Honorable Mentions will receive ribbon and certificate

Plus, two additional awards for overall winners:

  • Best In Show Award (overall) will receive $250 cash award, ribbon and certificate

  • Marion W. Savage People’s Choice Award winner will receive $100 cash award, ribbon and certificate

 

The Categories

to be judged are divided into two groups with a total of seven categories as follows:

2 Dimensional Visual Arts Categories will be:

  • Oil Painting

  • Pastel & Drawing

  • Photography

  • Water Mediums  & Mixed Media (combined due to lack of entries in these sub-categories)

3 Dimensional Arts Categories will include:

  • Sculpture, Mixed Media Sculpture, Pottery & Glass (combined due to lack of entries in this sun-category)

Sales Fees: 

  • 40% for Non-Savage Residents & Non-SAC Members

  • 30% for Savage Residents & SAC Members

  • Sales Tax will be added to all purchases and paid by SAS
