Beginning to Advanced Artists Welcomed!

In this tried and true workshop, students will learn the foundation of color theory from A to Z!  Richard takes you through both additive and subtractive color theory, application of theory and some color mixing.  This class offers an excellent overview of the subject of color and its relevance to the artist.  Not only covering  the topic of color mixing, the workshop looks at the physics behind the appearance of color.  Also discussed is the eye, and the subject of sight as well as optical color mixing.  With a thorough separation between the additive and subtractive theories of light the student well gain insights into seeing color in a whole new way and give you the knowledge to select pigments with confidence and an understanding of their composition and working properties.   This is a wonderful class for the neophyte to develop a scope of the subject yet will serve as a catalyst for the experienced artist to probe deeper into the why’s and wherfore’s encountered in visual observation and the practice of painting.  Ask for materials list, instructor will contact all participants before the class begins.

Rick KochenashInstructor - Richard graduated near the top of his class, from Kutztown University with a B.S. in Art Education and being offered a rare and immediate teaching position, he chose instead to spend time building a personal relationship with the One who brought him through it all. Rick directed his journey into biblical service. These years solidified his passions in this life and helped to set his priorities: A love for God, for family and for art.

Richard then moved to Minneapolis to renew his art calling. He studied under the atelier system, an arduous method of instruction which can be traced back to the French Classical painters. Years of work were invested to develop an artist’s eye in order to render forms direct from nature.
